HOW TO GET TO REDWOOD DULCIMER DAY

From Santa Cruz: take highway 1 north. Keep following it north as it turns into Mission St. Turn right on Bay St. to go up to UC Santa Cruz. When you reach the main entrance, turn left onto High Street, which turns into Empire Grade (this will take you past the west entrance of UCSC). Follow Empire Grade for about 10 miles (about 20 minutes). Take a left on Vick Drive (just past 9900 mail boxes). Go about 1/2 mile down Vick to Verde Dr. Go another 300 feet or so down to 60 Verde and look for signs on your right.

From the San Lorenzo Valley: go to the intersection of Highway 9 and Felton-Empire Rd in downtown Felton. Take Felton-Empire Rd. to Empire Grade (about 15 minutes through 3.7 miles of steep windy road in the redwoods). Turn right on Empire Grade, go 2 1/2 miles. Turn left on Vick Dr. (just past 9900 mail boxes). Go about 1/2 mile down Vick to Verde Dr. Go another 300 feet or so down to 60 Verde and look for signs on your right.

From San Jose: Take highway 17 towards Santa Cruz and get off in Scotts Valley at the Big Basin exit. Take Mount Hermon Rd into Felton and head up Felton-Empire Grade as described above.

From San Francisco (coastal route): take highway 1 south. Turn left onto Bonny Doon Road (about a mile south of the town of Davenport). Go 3.7 miles. Turn slight right onto Pine Flat Road, go another 3.7 miles. Turn left onto Empire Grade. Go about a mile and turn left on Vick Dr. (just past 9900 mail boxes). Go about 1/2 mile down Vick to Verde Dr. Go another 300 feet or so down to 60 Verde and look for signs on your right.

Tips:
If you use www.mapquest.com (online driving directions) it will direct you to take Alba road instead of Felton-Empire Rd. Since Alba is steeper and curvier we recommend sticking with Felton-Empire.

If you get lost or need to reach someone at the workshops on the day of the event: Mr. Boomer’s private number is (831) 426-2617 (please DO NOT use this number for general questions prior to the event; call Janet instead at (831) 429-1691)

Note:
As this is a private residence rather than a public facility, there is no parking lot, but there should be enough parking along Vick and Verde to accommodate us. You may have to walk a bit from the car to the site (unload your things at the gate first before parking if you like). We recommend you arrive early and give yourself plenty of time (gates open at 900 a.m.). Please be mindful of keeping roads passable--it’s our privilege to use this neighborhood and we’d like to keep everyone happy.
